Please remember:  

Campfires not bonfires!  

Campfires should be at least 25 ft from any structure

Extinquish before retiring for the night

Never leave campfire unattended ~ No rain = dry conditions

Check for local burn restrictions

Burn Permits may be obtained at the following locations:

  • Public Safety Building

    • 1035 Whittier Highway Moultonborough, NH 03254 from the Fire Department (Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm) 

    • Or from the Police Dispatcher on duty (Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 10:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm) 

  • Burn permits may also be obtained online here.
     

Burn Permit Categories:

  • Category 1

    • The interior burning area is up to 2 feet in diameter

    • It must be at least 25 feet from any structure

    • It may be kindled (with a permit) at any time, raining or not

    • These permits may be issued for the season

  • Category 2

    • The interior burning area is between 2 feet and 4 feet in diameter

    • It must be at least 50 feet from any structure

    • It may only be kindled (with a permit) between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00am, unless there is a steady rain. If you start a Category 2 fire prior to 5:00 pm and the rain stops you will need to extinguish the fire and wait until after 5:00pm to kindle it again. 

    • These permits may be issued for the season
